An open mind and lots of patience are probably more important than anything
when you will be spending three weeks in the backcountry pushed to your
limits with folks that will likely have different habits and traits than
your son.
That being said, I think good hygiene practices and a beefed up supply of
camp suds and foot care products will be the most important extra
behaviors/items to help him get the most out of the trek without having to
worry about his health or his clothes and sleeping bag being fit for the
toxic waste dump upon his return.
