[Philmont] Thermarest chair and sleeping bag

I've used a closed cell foam pad, full length, and chair conversion kit since the 80's. The chair conversion kits have evolved and are much more durable than the original ones. I use the full length foam pad that is folded in half to fit in the chair conversion envelope (I like Thermarests the best). At bed time I leave the doubled over pad in the chair, fold out the chair envelope flat and sleep on double thick foam. Without wasting time writing out the directions, and probably botching it, of how to use the chair kit visit an outdoor retailer, they all carry chair kits. When its time to hit the trail I just pull the foam out of the chair conversion envelope, roll/fold the foam and attach it and the chair kit to the pack.

If you like carrying the heavier self-inflating foam pads they also fit into the chair kits. Just make sure the width of the chair kit and the pad are the same.
