I am sitting here looking at my Raichle Rotondos' circa 1985 with all of their leather craftmanship. On my son's little eletronic scale, one boot weigh in at 2.7 lbs. They were made, I believe, to accomodate crampons and the ilke. They are very rugged but a couple of yrs ago the sole delaminated from and neede to be re-attached.
Aside from that they have the "P Crazy S" brand from a trip to PTC in 2000.
These boot have been very good to me over a few dozen outings, so I am torn on their use for 2009.
Trying to be thrifty, not sure of backcountry terrain.
