[philmont] Ranger gifts

Our crew had had custom baseball caps made for the trip. They turned out pretty well and we had ordered a couple of extra. On our last night with the ranger, after the ranger delivered his final speech and we took the wilderness pledge, the boys all signed their names to the cap and gave it to him. (You could probably pull this off just as well with a Council hat.) The next day was the ranger's day off and we were working on our conservation project at Pueblo Ruins and the ranger came hiking by with a buddy and was wearing the cap. The boys went wild. (Both glad to see him again and pleased that he was wearing the hat.) Needless to say it was a great moment in Scouting. (At Philmont, great moments can be pretty small.)

Besides shirts, I also recall mugs, neckerchiefs, & belt buckles.

We’re bringing a size large t-shirt. I figure that should fit most rangers, and if it’s not ideal he/she can trade it with another ranger.

What are some good ideas for gifts for the Rangers? I don't think giving a gift to one's Ranger is a mandatory thing, but what are some creative gifts to give?

I know the crew t-shirt is always a nice gesture, but by the end of the summer, a Ranger probably has a couple dozen, several of which don't fit because the crew didn't know what size to bring.

What are some examples of well-received Ranger gifts?
