I think some people get confused.

Success is not how many times you repeat the same task but how you make the journey through life.

Collecting Philmont Arrowheads is not the same as collecting Cub Scout Arrowheads.

With the long waiting lists with people, especially youth, on those lists who will never get a chance to hike the trails, how on earth can an adult feel good about themselves for going on a trek to Philmont 21 time?

Yeah, yeah I know.....he toold boys to Philont on all those trips. Well, did you ever stop to think that it might be nice to let another adult experience the trails of Philmont also? Then it can stimulate those adults to help others succeed too. Spread the joy, don't hide the candlelight under a bushel. Sound familiar?

Maybe we are cut from a different bolt of cloth, but I just don't see the purpose of your patting yourself on the back for going to Philmot so many times when others yearn for just one chance and never get it.

Philmont is for the youth, not the adult repeat performers running a broken record.

This is my personal view on the subject and don't even try to pursuade me to look at it differently. A man who knocks a youth out of the opportunity isn't much of a man at all in my way of thinking.

Philmont should be a stepping stone for a lifetime of adventure, not a destination to repeat yearly.

Go hike the Applachian Trail or Colorard Trail or Pacific Crest Trail or any of a million others if you want adventure and give the young people of the world a chance to earn the arrowhead just like Wait Phillips intended.
