Do you bring your own garlic, or take a holiday while you are at the Ranch?

WOW. . I didn't realize I was leaving out so much information. We are an
approved Trek from Gilroy, California. Gilroy is about 30 minutes south of
San Jose and about 600 miles from Philmont.
We have 5 Scouts and 3 Adult Leaders. We are finding that even with the cost
of gas, the overall cost seems to be lower if we drive.
Thanks for all your input!

Susan,
All kidding aside, your question is somewhat broad. Is your group just
stopping by to visit the Villa, Rayado, the Seton Museum and the Trading
Post, or are you part of a registered crew?
One person isn't traveling alone with five scouts, I hope?
To go hiking in the Philmont backcountry, your group must be registered on a
Philmont activity such as PTC, Cavalcade, standard trek, etc.
If your question is "We have a trek, but where do we park?" there is a
large lot which will accommodate your RV, as well as their friends, the
buses. AFAIK, no special permit is required to park there. You would still
sleep in tent city, not in the RV.
If you are attending the PTC, there is a trailer RV area just south of Tent
City South (or is it west?). No hookups.
If your question is "We are on a road trip and want to stop for day visit;
is there an RV park nearby?" Yes. Cimarron has two RV parks:
City: Cimarron NM
State: New Mexico
Zip: 87714
CIMARRON INN & RV PARK
... ...
Phone: (505) 376-2268

Good luck in that RV.

Has anyone taken an RV to Philmont before and if so, is there some special
license you have to get to take 5 Boy Scouts?
