Phil weatherMy Ranger son also reported that Baldy has too much snow to ascend safely at this time. Apparently there is still over 2 feet in the saddle and much more on top. It will be a day to day decision as to whether they will allow crews to ascend baldy.
Even with all that snow, all of Colfax County is in a fire ban. Only limited fires for program areas are allowed.

Just got word from my ranger daughter that they had an inch of snow fall on the mesa above Crater Lake on June 5. They returned to snow flurries and 60 mph wind gusts at base camp later that morning. Hope you folks arriving there this weekend for the first treks are ready for some interesting weather.
