[Philmont] Phil weather

The mountain snowpack is pretty large across much of the west this year. My
son hiked the Arizona Trail this spring, primarily because of that reason.
North of the Grand Canyon dozens of miles of the trail were buried under
five feet of snow. Only the top of an occasional trail sign poking through
confirmed he was on route. This was in early May. Roosevelt Lake in
central AZ is the fullest it has ever been. We got six inches of snow on a
shakedown hike north of Payson, AZ over Memorial Day weekend. I've done
this hike in past years when temps were in the 80's.

My son just signed on as a Ranger and will be boarding the SW Chief in
Williams, AZ (4AM! on Saturday). His sister has been at the ranch a couple
weeks. If anyone comes across Kyle or Robyn on the trail, give them a big
hello!
