You need at least two if you take showers on the trail: one for adults and one
for the scouts to share when they shower in groups at a food pick up site like
Baldy Town. If you only shower at a camp where you are staying for the night,
you may be able to get along with one.
OR what happens if you loose it or the plastic bottle breaks on the trail?
(It'll never break? I thought it to be impossible until it somehow on Day 3
the cap cracked and it became a gooey mess that quickly had to go into the
garbage. It's amazing how fast that is can become a foaming mess and you have
no auxillary vessel to put it in. Ziploks and duct tape just didn't cut it. We
had a backup.)
Sanitation is too important to rely on a single point of failure, make sure you
store the bottles separately in case by remote chance one becomes lost.
