[philmont] Backpacking Camera ?

Hello all,

I have been researching this lately and have a Fathers Day wish list
that includes either the Kodak EasyShare C813 or Nikon CoolPix L18.
Both are 8 Megapixel, use AA batteries and SD memory card.

Camera is small, lighweight and fits in pocket nicely

AA batteries fit my flashlight and son's headlamp.

During the trek i will use
http://www.energizer.com/products/hightech-batteries/lithium/Pages/lithium-batteries.aspx batteries. They last long and are
recyclable.

I will use rechargable batteries on the train to and from Philmont. I
don't trust the charge on my rechagable batteries so i use them where
i can get a recharge.

I have used SD cards in several cameras and my PDA. Plan on taking 2
- 2 gig cards.

Anyone have experience with either either of these two cameras?? Zoom
on the Nikon is less than the Kodak but the nikon is slim as a pack of
cards.
