[philmont] Backpacking Camera ?

Olympus Stylus 720 SW.

I don't think they make that model anymore, but there are similar models. (750SW, 770SW)

Mine's been to Philmont and on several other trips. It takes great pictures, is waterproof, shock resistant and very small and easy to use.

It does use a proprietary battery, but it's high capacity and lasts forever. I've never used more that two on a two long week trip, and the first one lasts for the majority of the time. I charge and carry three - one in the camera and two spares.
