I own the Olympus Stylus 770SW and would concur with Mike that the SW
(shock & waterproof) series cameras are excellent for outdoor use.
The cameras is waterproof, shock proof (5ft), and crushproof (220lbs).
Over ten days I took about 800 photos using three batteries. The
exterior is metal and very durable (I clipped my camera on so it was
very accessible for taking photos anytime).
