I agree that lithiums are hard to beat for a relatively short trip (< 2wk),
especially when you look at power to weight ratio. However, if you have
several devices (headlamps, cameras, GPS, two-way radios) or have a group of
people all using AAs, a solar charger can be really handy.

They have thin film solar chargers that are fast charging and incredibly
lightweight.
