I guess they must be having some attendance problems...
I was at PTC for international week and just got back.
They now are offering a square knot for PTC. The
requirements are somewhat more demanding than your
typical knot. In a somewhat abbreviated nutshell:
1 Attend a PTC course (before 6-1-08 doesn't count).
2. Recruit three people to attend a course and attend a second course.
3. Recruit three more people to attend a course and
Train others in what you have learned or attend a third course
That isn't exact, but you get the gist of it. As a minimum, to get
the knot there has to end up 8 courses taken, your two plus the
six you recruit.
Over the years I've been amazed at how hard it is to recruit folks to
attend a course at PTC, my two times have been truly great
experiences, and only lack of available vacation time has prevented
me going more often.
The next international course will be held july 2009 during venturing
week. This is a departure from the every other year schedule they
have been maintaining for this course due to the change of dates
for national jamboree. I highly recommend this.
My wife had been after me to go again, as she really enjoys the
spouses program. My daughter did a mountain venturer trek and
has now earned an arrowhead like dad and big brother already
have. She is thrilled and is now ready for a full trek.
If somehow I manage to recruit anyone to go, do let me know so
I can mark it down for my knot :-)
